We are seeking a highly motivated Data Engineer to join our team.  A Federal Services information technology (IT) customer requires support of the enterprise IT environment including data management, strategy, and governance.  Under this contract, Assured Consulting Solutions provides direct assistance to the customer in IT services with a focus on consultant-level IT support.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Support the Government in creating and delivering the following data solutions.
  • Data Governance: Provide assistance, guidance, and recommendations for developing, implementing, and managing a mature customer data management capability for data governance which is grounded in industry best practices and aligned to applicable policies and the strategic plans of the customer and their community.Provide documented assessments, updates, guidance, and recommendations regarding master data governance, roadmaps, processes, and data standards through proactive discovery, recurring SME engagement, and evaluation of current and future initiatives and capabilities.Provide assessments, guidance, and recommendations regarding the maturity of existing data architectures, management practices, warehousing, policies, assets, governance, analytics and visualization to support the development of a mature data management capability and strategic data lifecycle.
  • Data Management: Review and evaluate data governance policies and their application to identified data models.Implement data model changes to reflect stated policies and instructions.Assist in the establishment of enterprise governance policies and procedures to support the acquisition, use, management, and disposition of data within the enterprise related to data authorization, access, retention, handling, and storage.Engage with data stewards, custodians and stakeholders in working groups to enable implementation of policies and instructions.Document recommendations for improving data sharing, increasing data repurposing, and decreasing the costs associated with data management efforts.Document recommendations for the establishment of data management roles and responsibilities.Identify and tailor training courses available to support established data roles and responsibilities.Identify infrastructure requirements necessary to support mission and business data management needs and document recommendations for infrastructure improvements to support mission needs.
  • Data Architecture: Construct a data model required for data governance to include a mapping of data sources to data model and an assessment of where gaps may exist.Assess the accessibility of data sources, the value or quality of the data provided, and the level of effort required to bring the data into compliance with the desired data model.Create a notional architecture that identifies how a Data Life-Cycle would be constructed for aggregating disparate data sources, from both known and future data sources, and a broad timeline for the development and approval of supporting life-cycle artifacts.

Required Qualifications:
  • Possess an understanding of how data flows through systems.
  • Possess an understanding of data standards and data management.
  • Possess an understanding and at least two (2) years of direct experience working in the IC.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience using Collibra Data Governance Center, or similar tools, highly desired.

Education Qualifications:
A master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Information Technology or Engineering. A master's degree may be replaced with a bachelor's degree and ten (10) years of Computer Science experience.
